Savvey is a free price-checking app. We collect as little as possible.
What we collect
Search queries — sent to our AI providers (see below) to fetch prices. Not stored on our servers, not linked to you personally.
Camera — used in two ways: (a) barcode scanning runs on-device only, no image leaves your phone; (b) the optional "Snap a photo" mode sends a single downscaled JPEG to Claude Haiku to identify the product, then discards it. No photo is stored on our servers.
Saved items — kept on your device only (browser localStorage). Clear them anytime via the Saved view. Never sent to our servers.
What we don't collect
No name, no email, no payment details, no browsing history, no location. No ad trackers. No data sold to anyone. No accounts to make.
Affiliate links and ads
Some retailer links — particularly Amazon — may carry an affiliate tag, meaning Savvey may earn a small commission if you buy via that link. This does not change the price you pay or which retailers we surface. We do not run display ads and do not promote any product, but we reserve the right to introduce clearly-labelled sponsored content in future. Affiliate income helps keep Savvey free.
Third-party services
Perplexity Sonar — finds UK retailer product pages. See perplexity.ai/hub/legal/privacy-policy.
Anthropic Claude (Haiku) — extracts prices from search results, generates the wit line, and identifies products from photos. See anthropic.com/legal/privacy.
Serper — fallback search index when AI providers are unavailable. See serper.dev/privacy.
Your rights (UK GDPR)
Because we don't store personal data on our servers, there's nothing to access, rectify, or erase under Articles 15-17. Your saved items live on your device — you control them entirely. If you have any concern, email privacy@savvey.app and we'll respond within one calendar month.
